The future of 3G application - A Feature by ZTE's Dr. Qiang Cao, Vice President of Mobility Division, ZTE.

_______________________________________________________

Just as most of us expected, 3G network services are radically different from those offered by existing 2G networks. The current leading 2G technology is essentially limited in the field of voice, SMS text messaging and narrowband data services. 3G network's high-speed packet-data orientation means that 3G networks can provide diversified services such as video conference, video phone, streaming services(including :video on demand, portable TV/DVD, and monitor online etc), interactive games , location based services and Java downloads. This just means, high-speed Internet access service allows users to handle their emails and Internet surfing without any limit. With the gradual growth of 3G applications. we are anticipating a boom development of 3G.

The outstanding achievement of ZTE corporation

ZTE represents a new modal of Chinese high-tech manufacturer which growing up very fast and different from the traditional conception about the meaning of “made in China ” in oversea markets. ZTE is a hi-tech enterprises with outstanding R&D capability. That's why investors have full confidence in ZTE.

Over the last 20 years, ZTE is developed into one of the world's fastest expanding telecommunications equipment vendor, especially in oversea markets. Our contracted revenue rose to $4.1 billion. About 40% ($1.65 billion) of the revenue came from oversea market , with annually increase rate of 169.5%. And in December of 2004, ZTE was successfully listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and become the first “A-H” stock in China .

ZTE's endeavor in 3G technology

As a famous 3G system manufacturer, ZTE has made a great contribution to 3G protocol. Inheriting the successful network disposition experiences in 2G networks, ZTE has full confidence to provide complete solution for the operators all over the world with V3 products family. And various requirements can be realized either in Core Network or Radio access network in any. geography scenario.

The most competitive solutions are listed as following:

“One Stop” Solution :

It provides end-to-end WCDMA entire network products and network service solutions, and supports all the standard protocols, ensuring the system compatibility. It has inherited the experiences in constructing CDMA2000 networks, and the advantages in the field of soft switch. The “One Stop” solution is more customer-oriented, more diversified, and more specialized, which maximizes customers' profits.

“Operation & Maintenance Factory” solution:

It provides the network deployment solution, to rapidly build up profitable refined network, with concentrated base-band resources and distributed radio resources, and effectively reduces 3G network construction, and maintenance cost of the operators.

“World-class R&D level in Wireless Packet Access”:

In ZTE, great breakthrough has been made in High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA). It aims at supporting more high speed information-intensive services and offering a WAN alternative to Wi-Fi. HSDPA has been demonstrated to give speeds of up to 14Mb/s under laboratory conditions. This is expected to translate to between 2Mb/s and 3Mb/s in real network conditions, and even position HSDPA as a viable alternative to wireless ADSL.

To complete the high speed HSDPA proposition, our attention is now turning to High Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA). An increase in wireless uplink rates will be necessary for services such as mobile video-telephony. It may also be an acknowledgement that new types of wireless data applications require a more asymmetric partition of bit rates than established types.

The market philosophy of us

We attach our sight on the whole global mobile market not only in china but also in overseas market. In Europe alone, ZTE has set up 15 offices, one R&D center in Sweden and one maintenance center in East Europe . In addition, ZTE will have a large Road Show over Europe in the spring of 2005, covering Turkey , Greek, Romania , Hungary , Czech, and Poland etc, giving our customers a real experience of the wonderful 3G services. We sincerely hope to promote communications with our partners in different aspects, and bring a better future for the 3G industry.

As a leading 3G promoter, manufacturer, service provider, we have just showed our determination to cooperate with every 3G attendee in value chain to boost future 3G market. We can supply not only newly developed technology to our customers but also our well circumspect and timely services which has been believed by our customers.

Let's 3G

Future 3G networks and services will take on a new operating mode. The operator who can provide their customers with unique services of 3G networks will get the most benefit.

In conclusion, as an international corporation, ZTE aims at the whole global world. Just like our slogan---"let's 3G", we'd like to be an initiator to promote development of 3G. we are also confident to welcome and embrace the days of 3G prosperity.
